LUXURY SNEAKERS!

Also included is an all-white Sperry Top-Sider-esque nautical shoe as well as another intriguing model which comes across as a Reebok Freestyle gone mad and incorporates a plush grey suede upper with double velcro straps, gold boondoggled tassels and sits on a lovely neon pink sole. West went on to tell his fans via his personal blog ‘I couldn’t do a collection without including the ladies... I used to shop for the perfect sneaker for my girlfriends. The lux sneakers were usually too busy and the Keds and Vans weren’t Lux enough. It may not seem like it sometimes, but I do it for the hood! I go hard! I begged them to make these!”
Whilst many are glad he did, some cynical New Yorkers wonder if this collaboration is one of true merit or a lame marketing tactic for the French brand to defrag its past and reformat their collection. Either way, it’s proof that the tactics that have been so universally adopted in the sneakerhead world retain the same power and influence. The scene just needed a fresh match to light the fuse and in the mash-up of West and the classic French house, it found one that is highly flammable.
Once again, the high-end brands are setting the foundation for a new level of intrigue. There is no running from the ‘influence’ – it keeps the balance of innovation and the art of design fully intact, giving current industry frontrunners and newer brands an equal opportunity to keep the sneaker lifeline going.
