Hey Mark, why the hell did you decide to recreate a pair of Nike McFlys?
Well I wanted to have them so badly but there was no way I could just go into a store and buy them, so the only way to have them was to build them myself.
DIY McFly eh? How did you do it?
I did search the Internet first, searching for pictures and more information. After the initial research I had to find someone to build them exactly how they were in the film, utilizing all the information I accumulated and of course the few pictures that I had.
Can you be a bit more specific? There's gotta be a story to this crazy idea?
After the movie I tried to buy the shoes but soon I realised there was no way I could ever have a pair of these amazing futuristic sneakers. So as I said, I made lots of pictures in front of the TV directly from the movie and soon after I had bought a pair of Nike Air Pegasus 1989. At the time I was only 15 or 16 years old. I went to a store to buy some fabric, and foam which didn’t cost me much. At home I took my moms sewing machine and I just started constructing them into a pair of hi top McFlys. Of course they were not like the movie ones but hey, at the time I thought they were great and I was proud of what I made.
Years went by and there was always something in my head about having an exact replica of the McFlys that I’d seen in Back To The Future 2. So I started looking around on the Internet and I found a ton of pictures from the movie...
