ACG FEATURE - PART TWO

STEWART HORNER INTERVIEW

Sounds sick (laughs).

Hang on, I want to show you. I know you can’t see this on your recorder. I was living in London at the time and working for Slam City Skates. It was the time when all the skaters started wearing technical outdoor shoes. When I first started designing snowboard stuff, the Terra Tor was my inspiration and the hospital green was my favourite.

Nike almost ‘owns’ certain colour combinations. I can’t think of any other shoe company that comes close. ACG has more than its share... Why do you think that is?
Yeah I know what you mean. It’s true. There are ACG specific colours that signify our brand, and they can vary in tone, but predominantly it’ll be purple and orange or turquoise and blue for example, certain groupings of colours that are interesting combinations. They’re also different to the usual athletic colours, which is nice.

Any other garments from the next season that are worth mentioning?
There’s 130 styles so let me think. (Chuckles). Some of the key ones are the Minima jacket, which is something that we’ve done season after season and refined. It’s a high-end, three-layer, Gore-Tex piece that’s a classic. We’re introducing more cycling inspired product again that’s intended to be versatile for a whole multitude of activities. The half-zip rip pull-over is completely inspired by a vintage 1989 style but brought up to date. It has a nice drop-tail, reflective piping and a multi-coloured rip-stop. Another in that same zone is our Composite Hoodie, a lightweight hoodie but the back has a cycling pocket for your water bottle and your media so that’s nice. Those styles exist within the women’s realm as well.
