Agreed. What else can you tell us about the shoes?
There’s three styles altogether. There’s the Authentic One Piece LX, the Chukka Del Barco, and the Native American LX which we dubbed the Long Beach Native.
What’s the story behind the Native?
It’s essentially a stripped-down version of the Native American, which is a style perhaps most famously known as the model done with Madrid. The Native American is an original skate shoe that Vans used to produced that had a really simple look to it. We wanted to create something a little more basic so we took off the suede overlays, we took off the ollie patch and tried to strip it down to its most simple essence. You’ll still see the stitched collar padding that runs around the top collar which is reminiscent of the Sk8 Hi, so it still has all those Vans iconic elements to it.
The checkerboard emboss in the heel is a nice little touch.
Yeah, another effort to call back to the roots of the brand. We always like to include small details that call back to Vans heritage. It’s a vehicle for us to work on something that we like, but also to do something that represents Vans as well. So you have the checkerboard emboss on the suede, which is iconic to Vans. It’s there in a nice subtle way...
