SEKURE D'S GUIDE TO CUSTOMISING SNEAKERS

• The pavement graffiti effect on the toebox and heel is achieved by dry-brushing multiple layers of grays, white and black to add depth and finer details with an old frayed round brush.

• The graffiti pattern over the top is accomplished through layering from the base of the design to the final black outline to attain more fluid linework. I start with the white detailing, then add the gray detailing and gradients, black and finally the pink to purple gradient highlights to tie it all in.

• To achieve the crisp details on the side panels, you need to use a fine tip brush to outline and a medium tip brush to fill. Ensure the fine tip brush is slightly wet so that the straight lines are more fluid. There is no trick to this. It just requires practice and skill. Much like the Nike Structure Triax 91, the inside mid-panel of this custom will have alternate colors to the outside.

• The technique of first drawing, basic outlining, filling and final outlining up can be used for everything from logos to illustrated characters.
