SEKURE D'S GUIDE TO CUSTOMISING SNEAKERS

Base coats and solid colored panels require a wide-tipped brush which reduces the appearance of brush strokes and unevenness. Dip your brush and get a generous amount of paint, brushing with long strokes. It is critical you apply a few thin coats rather than one thick coat. I cannot stress that enough.

If you have a black or dark colored base shoe and you want to paint it with a light color, you can add a white base coat and increase the vibrancy of the color and reduce the amount of layers needed.

• The toe and heel panels that are going to have the pavement effect do not need to be 100% perfect in the base coat stage as they are going to be painted over.

• To paint a silver Swoosh, first paint a light-gray base coat. This reduces the amount of silver coats needed as metallics are not heavily pigmented. You will need to do this with almost all metallic colors...

• Paint the leather panel edgings with a fine-tipped brush so that they do not look unfinished and to ensure the factory produced look.
