CLAW MONEY X NIKE BLAZER

Your claw symbol has become so well known that it’s taken on a life of its own and led to this amazing career. Does it feel like it’s been a hard road?

A hard, long, lonely road...... NOT at all! It all went by in the flash of an eye. I’m 38 but I feel like I just turned 21 last year! I never planned for any of this, and I certainly never painted graffiti to sell products. The connection between the two didn’t happen until I was urged to make t-shirts (with the CLAW on them) at the behest of friends in 2002 and then - BAM! The demand grew, so I kept it coming.

And now, here I am. A walking, talking BRAND.

Where did the claw symbol originate from?

It’s the W from CLAW, that I started putting nails on – it still resembles a W – doncha think?

Why do you think Nike approached you to do this collab?

I think Nike chose me because I am a woman busting down doors (that were not readily open to females) plus I’m a sneaker head and a graphic wiz, so it sounds like a perfect fit! Also I have some friends in high places that whisper my name into the ears of many... and someone heard em!
