New Balance 1500 LA MAJC Colette
The New Balance 1500 La MJC x colette was produced in February 2006, which is also the New Balance 100th anniversary, so the company asked us to realise a special make up for this occasion. The shoes were done by La MJC for colette and our website, Sold Out.
The choice of the model was really easy for me, as I'm a great fan of the 1500. For the design,
my partner William Snieg and I tried several patterns. The plus pattern was our final choice as it symbolised the collaboration between New Balance, La MJC and colette.
I have chosen the materials and colors, to make a very distinctive, but also wearable, sneaker.
At the time (I had done the shoe in september 2005), purple and black were not as hype as today, and the patent leather was not so usual! 96 pairs of this New Balance 1500 were produced. 60 pairs were sold at colette and 36 others the day of the Sold Out website launch. I'm kind of proud of the shoes, as each time I wear them, people always come to me to ask questions about them.
I really hope people who have bought them, wear them, as I really believe that limited sneakers are made to live in the streets, and not to stay in boxes!
