AARON ROSE x DC ARTIST SERIES

I always felt like DC didn’t really get the respect for initiating that series... Kaws, Thomas Campbell, Phil Frost, SSUR, Kinsey, Obey amongst others.
Damon Way was great at spotting talent but the products never seemed to really break through. Did that cross your mind at all?
No. I’ve known Damon for many years. I respect his passion for art and his long history of treating artists with respect. That is why I did the shoe. I could care less if it is popular or not. 

Well I wish I had that strength of confidence. Finally, I have friends in NY who feel like the shitty economy might actually bring some more interesting people back to the city. Do you think creativity in general might be up with a downturn in jobs?  How do you see this?
I’m psyched for this depression. It’s about time. The clowns were running the show for too long. People will always get by. We live in a different world than we did in the 1920s. It’s a global economy now. It will never get to the point of soup-lines and such.

I think this will be a really good editing process, both financially and spiritually. People will be forced to focus on the things that are really important to them. I feel that anytime that can happen it’s better for the whole society. We’re going to have great art, great music, great film and overall a general restructuring of priorities. Bring it on I say!
