2008 - BEST OF THE BEST SNEAKERS
This model is a collaboration with Mr. Mitsuhiro Iwago, who is one of the most infamous animal photographers in the world. This project was made to make the wearer think about the environmental problems of our world, with the PUMA sneakers inspired by six endangered species. I picked the Macaroni Penguin because it looked very funny. There are lot of good sneakers in the world that use cool colour, high quality materials and technology. But this concept is slightly different. It assumes sneakers have a common language and therefore sends a global message. Big ups to Atmos who suggested such a project and PUMA for making shoes that in my opinion are really funny.
At a time when simplicity and the continuous merging of fashion and sneakers is the biggest trend, Nike and Slamjam got together to create a traditional Air Force 1 with a high-fashion influence. The amazing patent finish and soft leather gives the most luxurious look and feel of any sneaker this year, and the shoe almost looks to be inspired by a Tuxedo and the thought of matching sneakers with one. Just when you thought the limited edition hype had had its day, Nike will keep you queueing.
