2008 - BEST OF THE BEST SNEAKERS

There have been a lot of good releases lately but we want to put the spotlight on two of our favourites from this year. A lot of brands came up with nice retros of the past including Vans, Nike (of course) and even the legendary Troop made a comeback. However, two other old school comebacks really stole our heart and both were made especially for the ladies.

The beauty of the LA Gear Stardust lies in its simplicity, with features only LA Gear could pull off. It’s an exact copy of the original Stardust model and it makes us yearn for the days of pale blue jeans, cut up t-shirts and big hair. Argh, if only we had a time machine. If there was ever a shoe to embody femininity of the eighties, it’s this one. It was completely in tune with the female icons of yesteryear, like Jem and the Misfits, My Little Pony and Malibu Barbie. If you rocked these in 2008 you could count on being ambushed by people in their late twenties and early thirties overwhelmed with youth sentiment. We can’t wait for the next release of LA Gears, but alas, they won’t spill those beans yet.
A release which made us very happy was the Vision Streetwear Supertrick High for ladies! Last year it made a comeback for guys in OG colours but this year they were released in a new kick-ass girly colour combination without losing the original retro feel. Normally we are real suckers for men’s colours, but this is killer.
There you have it, two shoes from back in the day, one with youth sentiment and one good old classic in a brand new girly jacket.
