2008 - BEST OF THE BEST SNEAKERS

When The World’s Greatest Boogazine asked me to pick my favourite sneaker of the year, the black NB577 that I designed was the first that came to my mind. I think that’s the shoe that I’ve been wearing the most this year. But if I should pick just one shoe and that’s what I’m supposed to do, I must pick the sneaker that really made my year. It’s the shoe that represented the letter S in the adidas aZX alphabet. The ZX 450 SNEAKERSNSTUFF.

When adidas invited my partner Erik Börjesson and I to Germany to be a part of the project, we didn’t know that it would go down in history as the best adidas collaboration project yet (No offence Superstar 35th Anniversary or adicolor but this one was on another level).
When we checked in at the very nice five-star hotel in Nürnberg and saw the list of the other aZX partner stores, we felt very proud to be a part of the project. adidas did everything right this time, everything from documenting the whole design process to leaking those nice U-dox produced videos on YouTube. I got so much love for this project and of course our shoe in particular. Originally we wanted the ZX 450 to get the Gore-TEX treatment but that was apparently impossible. Impossible is nothing we said, and tried to make the shoe as waterproof as possible. I think they came out great.
A few of the aZX partner stores, SNS included, were given the chance to visit the legendary adidas Archive and the adidas Museum in Sheinfeld. We got the VIP-tour guided by none other than Markus Thaler! A memory for life for sure. Massive thanks go out to everyone involved.
