2007 - BEST OF THE BEST SNEAKERS

I couldn’t decide on which shoe to pick for my Best of 2007, so here’s a photo of me arguing with myself over it.

W)TAPS X VANS
Although not the most complicated shoe I thought this was one of the best collaborative products that 2007 unloaded onto us. I’m already a big fan of the Vans Syndicate line with its extra padding and softer insoles. Add to that the ethos behind w)taps – functionality and necessity being as important as aesthetics – and you end up with a simple, comfortable and beautiful shoe, definitely a best of 2007 for me.

Ok, so I might just be blowing my own horn here but these shoes mean a lot to me. I painted up these shoes to celebrate the opening of my store on 07/07/07 – quite an accomplishment when we were working 28 hour days, 8 days a week in the final weeks leading up to the opening. To me it symbolizes the fruition of a plan that took months of planning, with years of dreams to create what we hoped to be one of the best joints around. So I guess it’s also a favourite of 2007. Or, rather, it reminds me of my favourite moment in 2007.
