I never had these when I was a kid... the only Pumps I ever owned were Court Victorys. It’s not just the novelty of the tongue (I never get tired of pumping the crap out of them and hitting the release valve... psssss!) but it’s also the comfort factor and aesthetics of these retro runners that makes them a fave. These look better on your feet than on the shelf, and look especially fly with shorts (in sunny Brisbane we wear shorts 90% of the year). The lightweight graphlite piece which replaces a big chunk of the sole is another feature that makes these stand out and provides great arch support.

I’m also a fan of the mesh vents on the upper which let the breeze in and the fact that there’s not a skerrick of leather on the whole shoe. I like this colourway too because it’s not too flamboyant, but having seen what Reebok’s coming with in 08, I am pleased to say there are heaps of these being released in a gazillion colourways...
