To be the Best of the Best in 2007, a sneaker has to not just look cool but it should say something, send a message, tell a story, celebrate someone, something. It should just stand OUT through design and innnovation and not just through loud colorways!

My pick is the Rolland Berry x Basquiat Freestyle High – not only was the combination of these two artists genius but the way the artwork was used to me is flawless, from the heel design with Basquiat’s crown to the clear gum sole that reveals his ‘samo’ tag – even the insole is a piece of his art. For a woman’s sneaker to have guys wondering ‘what are those?’ – you have to rock. Kudos to Rolland Berry! Regardless of what the masses think of Reebok as a brand, I think this collabo was definitely slept on, although the true ‘design connoisseurs’ didn’t...

Too bad if you don’t own a pair!
