Preview pics have started seeping from Sydney Harbour's Cockatoo Island which is currently being transformed into an underground art haven as part of the inaugural Outpost Project Festival. A former convict prison and shipbuilding yard, the heritage site has been taken over by 150 of the country's finest artists including Anthony Lister, Kid Zoom, Meggs, Ben Frost, Bestman, Ghost Patrol and the Everfresh crew along with international names like ROA and Ethos. Larger than life installations abound, including pyramids by Beastman, Phibs and Numskull, giant inflatable sentinels by Anthony Lister, and a 1:1 replica of Kid Zoom's childhood home… complete with exploding Holden Comform-adores! There will be a ton of free events on show when the island opens to the general public this Friday, including skate tournaments and the unveiling of George Shaw's Oi You! Collection which boasting works by Os Gemeos, Swoon, Faile and Banksy. Check out the Outpost website for event details.
