KREW DOWNUNDER TOUR PICS

The Krew skate brigade kicked off their local tour last night with an epic fan meet-and-greet at Fast Times Skateboarding on Swanston St, Melbourne. Terry Kennedy, Lizard King, Antwaun Dixon, Spencer Hamilton and Furby were all on deck, generously autographing anything (and anyone!) in site. Check out the photos below. YOICHIRO KITADATE INTERVIEW

As a talented writer, avid basketball fan and an avowed Jordan-nut, Kitadate has had a long career in publishing and is deeply respected in the sports footwear community. UNDRCRWN X MOS DEF (DUSTIN CANALIN)

Street wear brands come and go, but in these tough times only the strong survive. Thanks to the creative genius of director Dustin Canalin who saw a void in the street/sport market, UNDRCRWN was born to deliver apparel that catered to a wide demographic. Dustin has forged close relationships within hip hop circles, having worked with Damani, Asher Roth and most recently Mos Def. We wanted to find out more about his collection with the ‘Boogie Man’ and fortunately for us, Canalin was willing to spill the beans as well as show off pics of the unreleased Mos Def x adidas joints!

KEEP A BREAST X PONY - CHECK YOUR SELF!

Ladies it's time to ‘check yourself' with Pony's new collaboration with cancer awareness campaign ‘Keep A Breast'. Utilising sneakers in order to spread their message to a new demographic, the women at KAB have roped in the artistic genius of Spanish illustrator Pepa Prieto. We caught up with the team to find out how one simple check could not only save a boob, it could save your life. On the flipside, we also hooked up with Prieto to find out how she went from decking out an MTV Airbus to Pepa-fying Pony.

EXTRA BUTTER INTERVIEW (LONG ISLAND)

A Tribe Called Quest said it best on their hit If The Paper Comes, “Hot butter on what, say what, the popcorn”. Now a gang of well-educated sneaker heads have taken the term we used to describe how fresh our kicks were, and applied it to their movie inspired store Extra Butter. These guys don’t do anything by halves. Thirty minutes from the hype of New York City, these Long Island cats are killing it with only the finest in street apparel and ‘extra buttery’ kicks! Having just had the honours of scooping their own Bo Jackson inspired Nike Tee, we find out why Butter Knows!

ADIDAS HOUSE PARTY - SYDNEY

Adidas continue their 60 Years celebration, this time the Trefoil stopped off at Australia’s party capital Sydney. Decking out a warehouse in the middle of nowhere was a genius move, eliminating noise complaints from restless locals and adding a mysterious edge to proceedings. Pity getting a cab home was harder than spotting a Straighty-180 on Oxford St (Mardi Gras was the next day). Those issues were quickly forgotten with a bottomless pit of cocktails, copious rounds of pizza and bangin’ noise courtesy of a rotating roster of Sydney DJs. We missed the skate ramp at the end of the warehouse maze, but with party photographer Cobrasnake in the house, we could count on the Ron Jeremy of photography to capture the seedier side of the night.

BRAINPOWER INTERVIEW

The latest shoe to create a massive buzz on blogs worldwide has to be Dutch MC Brainpower's link up with brand legend Nike, to create two new shoes in what has to be ludicrously limited numbers; 12 highly sought after packs of exclusive Airmax to tie in with his 4th and 5th solo album releases. If you happen to be important enough, you may find yourself with one of the Hart/Hard Nike ID Packs in your hands. We go one better and cop an exclusive interview with the man himself, Brainpower.

COOL KIDS - EXCLUSIVE SNKR FRKR INTERVIEW

Rocking rhymes and styles from an era long gone, the Cool Kids are bringing back the party flavour to 2008, with their “Bringing ’88 Back” tour. And if you try to step to Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish about the fact that they weren’t even old enough to know what ’88 was about, duck for cover as they hit you with a dope rhyme and flow to stop the non believers and school the haters. Sneaker Freaker catches up with Mikey Rocks and gets the 411 on all things Cool!
