KREW DOWNUNDER TOUR PICS

The Krew skate brigade kicked off their local tour last night with an epic fan meet-and-greet at Fast Times Skateboarding on Swanston St, Melbourne. Terry Kennedy, Lizard King, Antwaun Dixon, Spencer Hamilton and Furby were all on deck, generously autographing anything (and anyone!) in site. Check out the photos below. SOLE WHAT? - STORE OPENING

SOLE WHAT? the newest (and first) dedicated sneaker boutique to come out of Malaysia had its opening party on the 29th of September 2007, which turned out to be a milestone in Malaysia's ever growing sneaker scene. Hans DC was flown over in style to represent Sneaker Freaker.

ADIDAS X HYPEBEAST (EUGENE KAN)

With a proprietary eponym for a name that is so catchy it almost defines an entire generation, Hong Kong's own HYPEBEAST has finally delved into a world they have covered so many times before - the sneaker collaboration. Partnering with adidas was only half the puzzle as the duo duly added Berlin's own Solebox to the equation. Not content with an international production, all three partners then added ace bike-maker Bianchi as the cherry on top. The Zeitfrei is a nice piece of retro-futurism, with some well placed details and restrained colours, but it's the shoe itself that seems to be the star attraction – applause please for a wonderfully timed addition to the footwear scene! We caught up with Eugene Kan and fixed our ears as he rapped about fixed gears, adidas and stiff soles.

OPIUM ROTTERDAM INTERVIEW!

Thanks to a crazy Nike collaboration back in 2005, Parisian sneaker store Oqium (pronounced Opium) well and truly cemented their reputation in the minds and wallets of le internationale sneakerfreakers. What set the store apart was their unflinching dedication to the Swoosh and their premium selection of product, not to mention a vintage sneaker museum in the store's basement that had to be seen to be believed. The latest chapter of the Oqium franchise has just opened its doors in the bustling boroughs of Rotterdam where the fellas hope to satisfy a scene thirsting for knowledge. We caught up with Raju to get a look inside the Oqium den and find out just where they get their deadstock Jordans from!

24 KILATES PUMP20 BARCELONA RECAP

Continuing on with our roll-call of stores taking part in the Pump20 anniversary project, we dropped in for a quick chat with Pol from Barcelona boutique 24 Kilates . Marrying a cosy midnight black suede upper with transparent panels that reveal the shoe's inner workings makes for an interesting marriage of wearability and technical fandanglery. We asked Pol about the inspiration for their design and how it fits in with the whole Spanish sneaker vibe.

WAYNE HOLLOWAY INTERVIEW (ADIDAS HOUSE PARTY)

Director Wayne Holloway has built a reputation for leaving egos on the cutting-room floor with his direct and no frills approach. Having stacked up a Filofax full of celebrity-fuelled clips, he has now taken on his biggest task of all - gathering a house party full of high rollers to create the adidas Originals House Party series. With a knack for capturing the ‘real’ essence of an unreal world, we caught up with Wayne Holloway for a quick 'behind the scenes' chat as he puts the finishing touches on his House Party Hexology.

KASINA PUMP20 INTERVIEW (KOREA)

Korea may not be renowned as a global fashion hotspot, but as SJ Park from Kasina explains, that's all set to change. For twelve years Kasina has been the vanguard of an emergent Korean street style. Being so tantalisingly close to Tokyo means that Korea quickly inherits the hottest Harajuku trends. But now a more assured Korean identity is emerging, one with its own home-grown fashion sense and sneaker smarts. In recognition of Korea's growing street scene, Reebok enlisted Kasina to design their own Pump for their twentieth anniversary celebrations. We caught up with SJ to get an insider's guide to K-style.

NEW YORK'S GABRIEL THE JEWELLER

If you fancy a miniature Dunk or Air Max that you can wear as a pendant to show your love for sneakers, then New York's Gabriel the Jeweller is your man. Just don't confuse him with Jacob the Jeweler – that dude's in the joint after being nabbed by the FBI on money laundering charges! Gold, silver or bronze, Gabriel makes the cutest sneakers you'll ever see dangle from a chain... he even made a pair for $12,000!

TOM DELONGE INTERVIEW (MACBETH)

Tom Delonge of Blink 182 fame is the brains and brawn behind the mysterious Macbeth brand. With a steez for simple looking sneakers that are a big hit in emo-rock circles, Delonge has built the brand with the help of a network of musician friends (Tegan and Sarah anyone?) and family that have created some unlikely shoe collaborations. From strumming strings to lacing laces, Delonge has also used his vegan principles to guide the direction of the product. It’s taken a minute to track him down but finally here it is... Mr Macbeth himself!
