Tell me we aint running this.........sheeeeeeeeet

The day began nice and early at the “Brisbane Square” with a mad rush of boxes being unloaded at the nearest loading zones and commandeered bus stops, all the heads made quick introductions and then everyone jumped in and gave each other a hand at unloading tables, hot sneakers and all the gear. Red bull girls arrived at the right moment and provided the much needed boost of energy to setup up the 20+ tables and displays. Everything including the DJ booth seemed to have gone up in a moment’s time with so many helping hands and was quickly ready for the anxious crowds hanging around trying to get a sneak peak.
A significant amount of heat was on display including the usual SBs, OGs, Js and some crazy limited PEs and a one off Brisbane Sneaker Swap & Cop Air Force 1 and matching shirts commemorating the day.
Being such a public space, it quickly drew the attention of all the local sneaker heads and all passersby who showed genuine interest and had a good look around and contributed to the charity raffle to win prizes provided by Sneaker Freaker, Apartment, Fuel, Laced and S-LaB for the National Drought Foundation (good money was raised). Also we handed out prizes for best sneaker male and female and best display. Soon enough the cardboard boxes got flattened and the music drew out the breakers and they put on a damn good show.
Brisbane's best stores which include S-LaB, Apartment (you guys seriously need to see the new store), Laced (Happy Birthday!!) and Fuel represented their own individual styles with their display tables. 1500 plus people rolled through what was an extremely important day in the Brisbane Streetwear and Sneaker scene and evidently the love is strong within our community and is ever growing and the future only holds bigger and better events.
Lastly it was a pleasure to organise this event with the help of Sneaker Freaker magazine, S-LaB, Laced, Fuel Clothing, Apartment, Red Bull, Brisbane Marketing and Zero Hour event management for getting together and supporting such an important cultural event for Brisbane City.
A special thank you to DJ Gavin Boyd for the trillest music all day, the Breaker Boys and Girls who put on a great show for the public and all the guys and girls who helped out with the Street Team, Online Support and all the help on the day and truly we couldn’t have done it without you guys.
Till next time
Taz

MUTHA FUCKAS!!!!
This is a little story about the corner shoe store that could or should i say that cant. A new skate shop just opened up in my little town and i went by to checkem out the other day and as i started speaking to the guy ofcourse my immediate attention drew to bring up what shoes they were getting in and after another couple of minutes of general discussion it was evident that this dude who had put all his money into his little dream skate shop knows absolutly nothing about the products he is selling, what his customer wants and what products are available. In this fast paced cut throat dog eat dog man kill man world i personally dont think just having the passion is enough to do something as owning and operating your own store you need to be motivated, you need to be informed you bascially need to keep your eyes and ears open and use your instincts and common sense, and use your book smarts if youve got any. Anyways back to the store the guy goes did you know nike is making skate shoes these days??? i was like "Really yea what are they?"" dude "Sb C's i think they are called" and more talk like this followed for hte next 20 minutes. So i dunno im all for the underdogs but in this case if your gonna go into business without having all your facts and figures and strategies i give them tops till next winter unless they get there shit together and there seems to be a awful lot of people going out of business around here the new shopping mall is hurting the local holders..
Peace if you have similar stories or thoughts on this matter please feel free to leave a comment
Hey guys its your boy shoe_shine im all the way out here in the sunshine coast and ive noticing something lately...you goto footlocker or someone knows u collect shoes why the hell do people straight away call you a sneaker freaker not freak but a freaker since when has sneaker freaker been turned into a coined term for a person who is a shoe head or is into collecting sneakers just kinda goes to show how well known sneaker freaker magazine and this site has become now anybody in the know automatically coins a shoe head a quote unquote "SNEAKER FREAKER"...hmmmmm
