The night started off with the line outside Dakota steadily forming from 5pm. In just 2 hours, there were already about 100 people in line. When the doors finally opened, there was a steady stream of eager sneaker heads through the door – some went straight for the shoes, some for the beer and the rest for the dim sims – it was good to see a veriety of sneaker fans on the night. Dakota did a fine job of decking the store out in a camo theme, the ceilings were completely covered in camo netting and there was even an old military truck parked outside a la ‘Tour Of Duty’.
Despite several of the models for sale being stuck in customs, interest was obviously very high, especially in the Stash Air Max and Air Force and the Undefeated series (which looked a lot better in person than they did in the line art). With such a massive crowd it was a nightmare for the guys to hold the raffle but somehow it was done and all the shoes were joyously received by the lucky ticket holders. Great work by Trent and the team at Dakota and also Matt from Nike for securing such a rad series of shoes. This was a great team event! And the Aperol drinks weren’t bad either!
The huge turnout at the party shows that ‘this sneaker thing’ is here to stay. VIVA LA SNEAKER!!!
